Links West Runton cheque presentation to Vision Norfolk

North Norfolk Golfers Club Together To Help People Living With Sight Loss

Members at a north Norfolk golf club have raised more than £2,500 for the county’s sight loss charity after a year of fundraising activity.

John Seppings, club captain at The links Golf Club in West Runton, chose Vision Norfolk as his nominated charity during 2023, and members at the club have raised £2,514 to support the work it does to support vision impaired people across the county to live independent lives.

The money was raised through a programme of competitions and collections, as well as members paying a £1 ‘fine’ every time they hit a ball into the ‘Captain’s bunker’ close to the clubhouse.

Mr Seppings chose to support Vision Norfolk because his mum is herself blind, and he wanted to make a difference in the support which vision impaired people receive locally.

A group of club members gathered on the 9th green to present a cheque for the amount to Erin Snell, community fundraising and communications officer at Vision Norfolk.

Ms Snell said, “Vision Norfolk relies totally on the generosity and support of local people to be able to deliver our programmes of support for those living with sight loss in the county, so we are very grateful indeed to John and the members at The Links both for choosing us as their charity for the year, and for raising such an amazing amount.

“The money raised will go directly to helping vision impaired people in Norfolk live independent lives.”
